Baby Shower Invitation Wording
Filed Under Home And Family | Leave a Comment
Your invitation wording can be either generic or specific. If you know the gender of the baby, then you should try to create gender specific wording for the invitation. There are wonderful little sayings for baby boys, as well as wonderful sayings for baby girls. But if the gender’s not yet known, don’t worry. There are many standard wording options as well.
You will find ideas online for twins, triplets, and even adoption baby shower invitation wording. You can search for ideas in many places, but the best place to look for anything in our world today is the Internet. Many invitation websites have what’s called ‘Wording Libraries’ where they offer hundreds of wording options for you. Your or formal depending on the overall style and theme of the event. Just be sure to be consistent. People will assume that casual wording means it’s going to be a casual event!
Your baby shower invitation wording needs to contain some important information, like the time, date, location, and the names of the guests of honor! Don’t forget to include where the mother or mother to be is registered for gifts. And perhaps you’re throwing a surprise baby shower - what fun! Just be sure to tell your guests to keep it quiet in the baby shower invitation wording. Here is a sample wording for baby shower invitations when you want to keep the big event a surprise:
Shhh! It’s a Secret!
A Surprise Baby Shower for
Anne Marie Glenn
and newborn Joe Steven

Here is a sample wording when the invitation is for an adopted baby:
Let’s rejoice with the Thompsons
as they welcome

to their family.

Whatever you decide to say on your baby shower invitation, be sure to proofread your baby shower invitation wording and spelling to make sure that all of the information is correct. It would be a shame to order and pay for so many baby shower invitations, only to find printing mistakes and have the shipping delayed because of waiting for reprints. Taking time to proofread in advance is always a wise idea.
And if you’re not sure what to say, or if you’re not sure if the information is clear or if you wonder if it sounds all right, then don’t hesitate to get a second opinion. Family and friends can help you, and many vendors will have customer service representatives standing by ready to assist with wording for invitations.
While you’re ordering or creating the wording for your baby invitation, don’t forget to consider the wording of your thank you notes! Often these are ordered at the same time and made to match the invitations. Again, your wording can include poems quotes, etc. and you will want to keep the same style, color, or theme. Hopefully, you know the mother well enough to know what her preferences are.
And if you’re not trying to keep the baby shower event a surprise, then go ahead and ask her or her close family members about her opinions about the baby shower invitation wording. She may appreciate being a part of the decision making process, or she may be just as happy to have someone else make some decisions for her, so her mind can be on other important things, like preparing for the new baby’s arrival!

Baby Shower Thank You Notes - You Deserve Help, Future Mom
Filed Under Home And Family | Leave a Comment
Writing baby shower thank you notes seems simple. However, with a million things to do as an expectant mother, the biggest challenge is finding the time. The sheer labor (pardon the pun) of mailing and writing all of your baby shower thank you notes can be overwhelming.
Ideally, everybody would get a handwritten thank you for their baby gift. However, if you just don’t have the time to write everyone, there is a loophole. Formal etiquette for gift thank you notes is that a card is not required in cases where the giver was present for the opening of the gift and received a thank you in person.
Use this as a polite dividing line if you are short on time.
You need help. Delegate. When somebody asks you, “Is there anything I can do?” You say, “Yes.” If no one has specifically offered to help, ask. Everybody wants to help out the most important person in the word—and that’s YOU expectant Mom. Assemble a team of your biggest fans.
If one task is too much, then delegate that task to a couple of people. You can have friends or family members help you by doing part of or all of the following:
1) If you don’t have them already, get someone on Team Mom to pick out and purchase the baby shower thank you notes or some cute stationary sets.
2) You’ll need stamps. Send someone to get them or have the post office deliver them to you.
3) Put the stamps on the envelopes. Heck, if the person who drops off the stamps, comes in for coffee. Ta-dah! You have a perfect coffee-time task.
4) Assemble a list of current addresses via group E-mail or calling people over the phone.
5) Address the baby shower thank you card envelopes. Once again, if you get somebody else to do number four for you or with you, there’s a shot that when the person comes over to give you the list you can do the coffee thing again and have her help you.
6) Bonus delegation task–Put DAD be in charge of writing the thank you notes, and the two of you sign them. Convenient explanations: My knuckles are sore and swollen. He wants to be an active Daddy.
You can finish your baby shower thank you cards without setting aside an entire afternoon or day. What Mom or Mom-to-Be has that much free time? Use these simple steps:
1) Address and stamp all the envelopes in advance. (See above)
2) Write on the flip-side of the gift tag for each present a nice comment about the gift. Alternatively, if you threw away all the tags, you can just put a note in each envelope saying who sent what and something nice about it. (Ex. Carol-stork diaper basket-cute sailor hat on stork) This insures you do not have to waste time looking up the correct spelling of the giver’s name or struggle to remember who gave you what.
3) Put the labeled gift tags or notes in corresponding envelopes.
4) Print out a thank you note template or sample note to base your cards on such as the ones found at http://www.my-thank-you-site.com/sample-thank-you-note-wording.html .
5) Carry a few envelopes and blank cards with you. When you are waiting at that next doctor’s appointment, fill out a few. Other good times to do this include, waiting for food at a restaurant, in between cycles of laundry, when you can’t sleep, and during commercials (instead of holding the fast forward button on the Tivo). The great thing about doing a few or just one at a time is that it keeps your handwriting neat.
6) Drop your finished cards in the nearest mailbox immediately. Do not wait to mail them from home all at once. Just put them in the mail. This way you will have to hurry up and finish the rest soon, and your stack will be smaller. You can delegate this task, but some people, have a tendency to “forget.” Make sure it is somebody reliable.

Baby boomers are quickly approaching retirement age, and as they do, there are a number of concerns that need to be addressed, particularly in the area of healthcare. Unfortunately, there appears to be no easy answers to the healthcare problems that baby boomers, and the population in general, will face in the very near future.
Baby Boomers are people who were born between 1946 and 1964. During this period of time the United States of America saw an explosion in birthrates that had never been seen before and nothing like it has been seen since. Today, baby boomers make up approximately 28% of the total United States of America population.
With this group of people occupying such a large segment of the population, it is predicted that there will be a major financial strain on the healthcare industry as a whole, as baby boomers reach retirement age. There are many reasons why the healthcare industry will face problems as baby boomers begin to retire and begin to need long-term care services.
Baby Boomers Are The Nurses
Go to any healthcare facility today and look around at the nurses who are working there. One thing will become abundantly clear to you; the vast majority of nurses working in healthcare are in fact baby boomers themselves. We have heard for the past few years about nursing shortages and predictions that these nursing shortages will only get worse.
There are many reasons why the United States of America currently faces nursing shortages. Traditionally, nursing has been a career dominated by women. Women have made great strides in efforts to gain equality over the past few decades; much of this progress is attributed to women who are from the baby boomer generation. With these strides in equality, women have realized that they have many more career choices other than being a nurse, a schoolteacher, or a homemaker. Today women are running the largest corporations in America, making great salaries, and receiving high levels of prestige.
A Two-Fold Problem
As baby boomers retire a two-fold problem is created. First, there will be even fewer nurses, because baby boomers make up such a large part of the current nursing workforce. The second part of the problem is that as baby boomers, 28% of our population, retire they will require more healthcare as a part of the aging process.
As you can see, there are some serious healthcare problems that need to be addressed. Leaders in the healthcare industry have been working extremely hard in trying to find a solution. Sadly their efforts are only making minimal impacts in increasing the nursing workforce.
Healthcare companies have tried everything from raising salaries to offering outrageous sign on bonuses. Money does not seem to be the key to get people interested in nursing. Survey a group of nurses and most will not complain about their salary. What they will complain about is the day-to-day workloads that they face. Nurses are overworked and carry larger and larger patient loads as a result of shortages.
Combine this with the fact that nurses, who typically get into healthcare to provide direct patient care, are being forced to do more administrative type tasks. Some of these tasks include excessive charting to meet requirements set forth by Medicare and insurance companies, and trying to get patients care certified, or paid for, by insurance companies. Most nurses did not become nurses to sit behind a computer and to talk on the phone for hours.
How This Will Affect Baby Boomers?
Advancements in medical technology and science means that people are living longer. This does not always mean that there is a high quality of life for those that are living longer though. Many of these people who would have died from a medical condition two decades ago can now live for a long time to come. These people often require a great deal of long-term care, whether it is at home or in a long-term care facility.
Those receiving long-term care at home require nurses to help them with their day-to-day tasks. The following is a quote taken directly from the Medicare website (http://www.medicare.gov/LongTermCare/Static/Home.asp)
“Generally, Medicare doesn’t pay for long-term care. Medicare pays only for medically necessary skilled nursing facility or home health care. However, you must meet certain conditions for Medicare to pay for these types of care. Most long-term care is to assist people with support services such as activities of daily living like dressing, bathing, and using the bathroom. Medicare doesn’t pay for this type of care called “custodial care”. Custodial care (non-skilled care) is care that helps you with activities of daily living. It may also include care that most people do for themselves, for example, diabetes monitoring.”
There is also a great deal of talk about whether or not Medicare will even be around in the coming decades. Consider the fact that 28% of the population will no longer be contributing to Medicare via taxes, while at the same time that 28% will be using more of the resources.
Is It All Really That Bleak?
Yes and no. It is true that there are no easy solutions in the foreseeable future to help deal with the nursing shortage, while the need for nurses will increase dramatically. It is also true that the economics of supply and demand will create a situation where healthcare will become even more expensive, while healthcare providers continue to raise salaries in hopes of attracting nurses.
So where is the good news you ask? The good news is that nurse recruitments are showing “some” success. Young people are showing a renewed interest in nursing, due in large part to huge marketing campaigns put out by nursing schools and healthcare organizations. The flip side of this is that these young people are going for the high level nursing degrees such as Registered Nurse (R.N.) and Nurse Practitioners (N.P.), but the lower level (lower paying) jobs such as Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.’s) and Certified Medical Assistants (C.M.A.’s) remain understaffed. These are the ones usually providing direct care while the RN’s and Licensed Practical Nurses (L.P.N.’s) are meeting accreditation requirements by doing all of the charting and talking to insurance companies.
The other good news is that insurance companies are planning ahead and offering long-term care insurance plans that will allow you or your loved ones the ability to be able to pay nurses for long-term care services. Many baby boomers are taking their future into their own hands by taking out these long-term care insurance policies.
Finally, leaders in government and the healthcare industry are working diligently to address what is a predictable issue. Since these are predictable events, they can be planned for as much as possible.

Baby Cot Mattress
Filed Under Home And Family | Leave a Comment
Getting a baby cot mattress is not always easy. There are times when you get a baby cot, and it will not come with a mattress. When you have to purchase one separately, you want to make sure it will be a snug fit. You want the mattress to fit tight so your baby is safe while he or she sleeps. You also need to have a mattress that is firm. Contrary to the belief that a soft comfortable mattress is good, a baby will need a firm mattress that will give him or her support.
There are three kinds of mattresses you can get for the cot. You can get one that is made of foam, internal springs, or fiber. The one made of foam is going to be the cheaper route, but you must make sure that the foam is dense to ensure adequate support. Baby cot mattresses that are made with internal springs are going to have better support. They are usually made with one side having an easy to wipe surface and the other side a cloth material. Lastly, you will have the fiber mattresses. The ones made of fiber material are very good mattresses. On average, they are slightly better than the internal spring mattress. The great thing about fiber mattresses is that you can get ones that are hypoallergenic. If there is anything to worry about regarding allergies with the baby, you can wash it in hot water to kill of dust mites and other unwanted organisms.
Before you choose what kind of baby cot mattress you will get, make sure that it will fit with your baby cot and gives your baby the support he or she needs. Babies sleep around 16 hours each day, and you want to make sure they are as comfortable as they can get.

Hispanic Baby Names
Filed Under Home And Family | Leave a Comment
From the Hispanic baby names, you can tell the meaning, origin, history, and culture of ancient times of Spain. With the knowledge of the history of the baby names, you can trace the family tree and ancestors. Knowing the family tree and ancestors, you get the clue on the history and culture of Spain.
The term Hispanic is from Latin Hispanicus which means from Hispania Iberian Peninsula of Spain. Now, the Hispanic pertains to a person from Latin America or Spanish from United States of America.
Originally, the Hispanic baby names originate the Latin dialect of the three northern part of Spain. The dialect spread to the Kingdom of Castille. Later, the dialect became the official language of Spain called Spanish. Eventually, the Spanish language spread to Americas around five centuries ago.
The Spanish is a romantic language. Spoken in many countries by millions, the language is the most romantic language. It is also one of the six official language on United Nations, second most spoken language of United States, and fifth most spoken language of the world.
At the beginning, they are only given one name which is the first name. The first name is to identify or distinguish from person to another. The population grew steadily. They come up of baby name that tells the physical, parent name, occupation, place, military, religion, and nationality characteristics.
The name can physically describe the person. For example, thin, fat, big, fair complexion, white complexion, or dark complexion tells the characteristics the person. Simply add the word after the first name. For example, Roberto Gordo (Roberto the fat), Roberto Delgado (Roberto the thin), Roberto Grande (Roberto the big), Roberto Rubio (Roberto the blonde), Roberto Moreno (Roberto the fair complexion), Roberto Blanco (Robert the white complexion), and Roberto Negron (Roberto the dark complexion) physically describe the characteristics of Roberto.
The name can also tell the name of the parent like Roberto Son of Alvaro. However, the Spaniards developed a short version by adding ez, az, is, or oz at the end. For example, Roberto Rodriguez means Roberto son of Rodrigo, Roberto Alvarez means Roberto son of Alvaro, Roberto Mendez means Roberto son of Mendo, and Roberto Gonzalez means Roberto son of Gonzalo.
The name can also tell the occupation of the person like Panadero (baker), Cocinero (chef), Torrero (bull fighter), Atalaya (guard tower), and Escudero (squire). For example, Roberto Panadero means Roberto the baker, and Roberto Cocinero means Roberto the chef.
The origin of baby name is also a popular practice. The word de means “from”, while the word del or del las means “from the”. For example, Roberto de Lugo means Roberto who lives from the town of Lugo, Roberto Del Monte means Roberto who is from the mountain, and Roberto de las Castillo means Roberto who is from the Castle.
In ancient times, the military has major role on the history and culture of Spain. Naturally, there are many Hispanic or Spanish baby names that came from the military. For example, Rico means strong ruler, Garcia means brave in battle, Sargento means sergeant, and Teniente means lieutenant.
The Roman Catholic has great influence over Spain. In fact, Spain brought the religion to many countries. So, there are many names with Roman Catholic origin. For example, Rosario means rosary, Santos means saints, and Salvador means savior.
Lastly, the name can tell the nationality of the person. For example, Catalano is from Catalan, Franco is from France, and Aleman is from Germany.
In Hispanic culture, the wife gets to keep her maiden name. In this case, the word de implies “wife of”. For example, Maria de Gonzalez Alvarez means Maria Gonzalez is wife of Alvarez. Another Hispanic culture, a person is usually given two surnames (name of father and mother). Sometimes, the two surname is separated by “y” which means “and”. For example, Maria Gonzalez y Alvarez means daughter of Gonzalez and Alvarez. Finally, the name can also tell the character like Alvaro (truth speaker), Felicidad (happiness), and Alberto (bright).

Baby Games
Filed Under Home And Family | Leave a Comment
These days, all parents want their children to be the brightest in town. They spend a lot of money on educational toys and games that are supposed to make their kids extremely clever. It seems to be such a wonderful idea to do so. In contrast, there are other parents who are concerned that their children are growing up too quickly for their age. The world is full of contrasts and we as parents need to decide whether we want our kids to enjoy the childhood phase of their lives, or whether we want them to become super intelligent beings at a very tender age.
Things have been hyped up to such an extent that even baby toys are now being marketed as objects of mind inspiration. Baby toys are being made in bright colors for mind stimulation. There are still other baby toys that come with common phrases recorded in French, German and several other foreign languages. Many parents question the advantage of such toys for babies who have yet to learn and speak in their own basic language. Babies should be allowed to be babies, and given toys that help them be just that. It has been found that the best toys for babies are the ones that roll and rattle and emit sounds when squeezed, because they help them understand how things move and make noises; in addition such toys hold their attention for long periods of time and make them giggle and be happy.
When my daughter was still an infant, I devoted all my efforts on making sure that she enjoyed her childhood. I only got her toys in bright colors, that made nice sounds, were cute and that were cuddly. I found that my selection of her baby toys helped her no end in enjoying her childhood.
One of my better purchases for my daughter was not even a toy; it was a video. She seemed to be captivated when she saw the Baby Einstein videos. The colors and the music held her attention for the duration of the video. I am certain that she was learning and that her brain was being motivated without any harm to her.
You can never make a mistake when you buy baby toys for your infants. The toys may require your baby to lie on their tummies to help brace their muscles; but then this is something that all infants need to do. On the other hand, you may be more interested in teaching your baby different sounds and colors. Irrespective of what your baby’s favourite toy is, their minds are being stimulated all the time. It is my considered opinion that we should not waste our time and efforts in making a genius of our infant. Instead, we should always try to bring up happy, healthy and intelligent kids. There is no need to force ourselves and our babies to go beyond the realms of a natural, happy and healthy growth for them.

Remember how miserable you felt when you last had a cold? Can you imagine what your baby must feel when he experiences a cold for the first time?
Viruses are responsible for causing colds. Infected people spread the viruses when they sneeze or cough nearby healthy people. The virus gets into the nose and throat where it multiplies.
What Are The Symptoms?
When your baby has a cold, there will be a number of symptoms. He will be sneezing and have a runny nose. He may have a sore throat and it may be difficult for him to swallow. His glands may become swollen.
He may not feel like eating much and he could become irritable. A cough may develop. He may get a slight fever or have a body temperature of 101 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
When to Seek Medical Advice
If your baby is three months old or less and has cold like symptoms, you should contact a pediatrician immediately. Cold like symptoms in a baby three months old or less are misleading and could lead to a serious ailment.
On the other hand, if your child is more than three months old you should contact a doctor if you notice that he is breathing loudly and his nostrils expand out with each breath. His nails or lips are becoming blue. His mucus is thick, runny and green. He has a cough that hasn’t gone a way for more than a week. His ears ache. His temperature is more than 102 degrees Fahrenheit. He has become more drowsy or grouchy.
How to Care For Your Baby
Medical experts tell us there is no cure for the common cold. However, there are ways to alleviate the miserable symptoms your baby undergoes.
Make sure he gets plenty of rest and extra fluids. If he has a fever, give him acetaminophen or if he’s older that six months he may take ibuprofen (but don’t give it to your baby if he is dehydrated or continuously vomiting).
If your child has a cough and is under three years old, don’t give him a cough suppressing medicine unless it was prescribed by a pediatrician. Coughing rids the lower respiratory tract of mucus.
If your baby has nasal congestion, you can use a rubber suction bulb to draw out the mucus from his nostrils. If the mucus is too thick, you can apply saline nose drops to soften the mucus before extracting with the bulb. A humidifier can also be used in the baby’s room to help liquefy the nasal secretions.
Concluding Thoughts
The best way for your baby to avoid a cold is to not have him near people who are infected. But if your baby gets a cold, the best thing you can do is make it comfortable for him. Soon his cold symptoms will disappear and he’ll be back to health, that is, until the next episode. But by now you’ll be ready for that, won’t you?

Baby Penguins
Filed Under Pets | Leave a Comment
Penguins are a group of flightless birds found only in the southern hemisphere. They are of the order Sphenisciformes and the family Spheniscidae. There are seventeen species of penguins in the world, the largest of which is the Empire penguin, which stands at an average height of 3 feet and 9 inches. Most people think that penguins live only in the coldest places on Earth like Antarctica, but penguins also live in the tropics. A species of penguins live in the Galapagos Islands near the equator.
Penguins are some of the most familiar animals in the planet, although most people have never seen a penguin in the wild. But most people recognize penguins because of the distinct and easily identifiable black-and-white plumage that all penguins have. Penguins, in their natural habitat, are extremely adapted to the aquatic life. The sea is their main source of food, which consists of fish and small crustaceans called krill.
Penguins have a peculiar mating habit; some penguins will mate for life, while others for just one season. Penguin parents usually cooperate in taking care of their baby penguins. But it is mostly the task of the male penguin to incubate the egg until it is hatched. It is amazing how penguins take care of their offspring in the extreme cold and harshness of their habitat. Baby penguins are hatched covered with a grayish down that protects the chicks from the cold.
Throughout the nesting period, baby penguins are confined to the burrow or nest where they are fed by their parents. When baby penguins reach the age where they don’t need constant care from their parents, they are often grouped in nurseries where they wait while their parents hunt for food. One amazing trait of both parent and baby penguins is that they recognize each other even in the midst of hundreds of penguins. Once the baby penguin sheds its downy feathers and gets its plumage, it can then start to fend for himself.

Arabic Baby Names
Filed Under Home And Family | Leave a Comment
The Arabic baby names are names from Arab speaking world also known as Muslim baby names. That is because Muslim is predominant in the Arab speaking world. Hence, some baby names are not really Arabic such as Iranian and Turkish baby names.
The Arabic baby names may be quite long. The Arabic baby names may consist of Ism (given name), Laqab (nick name), Nasab (parent name), and Nisba (family name). In same cases, the Kunya (which means first born son) precedes the baby names.
The Muslim religion have great influenced on the Arabic baby names. Many Arabic or Muslim baby names use the ninety eight attributes of Allah. In Arabic, Allah means God. Abd Al which means “servant of the” precedes many baby names. Similarly, Al or El means the article “the” in English. For example, Abd-Al-Sami means servant of all hearing, Abd-Al-Rashid means servant of the all guided, and Abd-Al-Jabbar means servant of the mighty. Now, Abdul is more common form of Abd Al.
The descendant names of Muhammad are also popular choice. For example, Umar, Ali, Bakr, and Fatima are descendants of Muhammad. Umar (strong supporter of Muhammad), Ali (cousin of Muhammad), Bakr (father in law of Muhammad), and Fatima (daughter of Muhammad) are baby names meaning life, lofty, young camel, and abstain respectively.
The names of prophet became popular as well. For example, Ibrahim which means father of many is counterpart of Abraham, and Mariam which means sea of bitterness is counterpart of Mary.
A great number of baby names start with Al (which means the), Ibn (which means song of), and Abu (which means father of). El means the same as Al. Al can also mean the tribe or clan of origin in some regions of Arab. For example, Al-Amir means the prince, Al-Asad means the lion, and Al-Fakhir means the proud. Another example, Abu Kadir means father of Kadir, Abu Idris means father of Idris, and Abu Ishaq means father of Ishaq.
By adding the letter A or H at the end, anybody can turn the male baby names into female baby names. For example, Khalida is a female baby name of Khalid, Hashima is a female baby name of Hashim, Abdullah is a female baby name of Abdul, and Iyyah is a female baby name of Iyya.
Many baby names also have modernized or shortened. For example, Avicenna (Ibn Sina), Achmed (Ahmed), Amurath (Al Murad), Saladin (Salah Al-din), Aladdin (Al-din), Nureddin (Nur Al-din), and Almanzor (Al Manzor).
