A slightly unrelated Asian sterotype. I happened to be watching Bleach a japanese anime and a great character was introduced. Despite being great he was a ratlike evil bastard who murdered and manipulated people etc. Name was Ichimano Gin or something. Now this guy was the only guy in Bleach who's eyes are slits. egh this video is flawed. yeah sure there are a couple of racist things there... but the dancing in jungle book? rubbish. that's just the musical taste at the time. and the crows in dumbo? crows are black... if you're going to characterize them as anything (characterize being the operative word there) it makes sense for them to be black. it's not racism. they are good characters: positive, constructive, funny, and they form a centrepiece of the film. it's not derogatory at all.

This doesn't diminish quality of those cartoons. Kids these days still love them. And by the way it was all done by hand,which is long and painful process,and even reusing some old pieces needs days of work. It's not like pressing few buttons and you're done.

Here's my two main points... 1) Does this "recycling" take away from any of the actual movies presented? Nope, otherwise we wouldn't be shocked when we saw the clips merged together. 2) Don't all other forms of entertainment recycle themes, phrases, actions, etc.? According to literary experts, Frankenstein was the last original story. So if story equations are copied, why not action? Are car chase scenes actually completely original? :)

i don't think many people realize that this is not a big secret. if you watch the special features on Beauty and the Beast, in an interview one of the lead animators talks about how they re-used the footage from Sleeping Beauty for the dance sequence. it's a popular technique used by all traditional animation companies. not just disney.

You can't get too angry about all of this. Disney's animation budget was slashed hugely after Cinderella. The only way too keep it going was too cut corners. They stopped inking for a while. They reused refs. It was that or not have an animation division. Walt hated it. He actually pushed for cutting the animation department because he didn't like the recycling of clips and lack of inking but there was no choice. But then again Walk may just have been mad about the jazz music. XD

What you're seeing here is most probably not the result of stock animation, but stock reference material. Disney used a lot of reference materials, actors for rotoscoping and such, it's likely that when two bits of animation moved the same, they had the same underlying live acting that aided the drawing process.

The movie is actually a blending of two books. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1871). By Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll was a pseudonym). The movie has it in a somewhat random order. It is beautifully done though, with smooth transactions. The Depp version is good. However it is more based off American McGee's "Alice" a video game from 2000 then the book. This is not official.
